A new UK access sales company International Platforms has been established by Vicki Allen.
Based near Milton Keynes, the new company will focus on the provision of new and used access platforms on an international basis with around 1,400 used boom lifts, scissor lifts, low level platforms and spider lifts currently on its books. Allen is joined in the business by her daughter, Jade Allen, as sales administrator, having spent the last couple of years as a hire desk controllers with AFI Uplift.
Allen herself was most recently the access division director of Mawsley Machinery – see: Access director for Mawsley. Prior to this she was southern territory manager for AJ Access Platforms, having joined the company as UK sales manager in 2016 from Genie, where she had been used equipment manager Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia for more than 12 years.
Allen said: “I have enjoyed a fantastic career with some of the top businesses in the aerial lift industry and have enjoyed all my roles immensely. This year took some unexpected turns, along with Jade being made redundant, due to the impact of the Covid-19 crisis. We both longed for a more flexible pace of life where we could combine running a business with spending more time with our horses. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use both mine and Jade’s skillsets to achieve this dream. We have the experience, specialist knowledge of the industry and plenty of contacts to make International Platforms a huge success.”
Lee Crosse, JLG Power Towers business developer manager, added: “I have been a supplier of low-level for Vicki for the last couple of years. She previously worked alongside my line manager Martin Cheese, who gave me some words of wisdom: ‘don’t mess her about’.Vicki is very professional and has a vast knowledge of access equipment. I wish her and her team all the success.”
