The new brushless E-Drive motors are fully sealed against moisture and water and are totally maintenance free. Machines equipped with them also have 70 percent fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings, substantially reducing the potential for hydraulic leaks.

As part of the changeover new side forklift pockets have been added in addition to the rear pockets currently fitted. The company will continue to offer the hydraulic drive motor versions of its slab scissor lifts up to 26ft - the GS-1530, GS-1532, GS-1930, GS-1932, GS-2032 and the GS-2632 - alongside the new E-Drive models.

Genie said: "Scissors equipped with the new E-Drive system will deliver increased run time, reduced maintenance costs and industry leading performance. In addition, the quiet and emission free AC electric E-Drive motors provide contractors with a green solution to meet the demands of customers and job site regulations.”

The change has also allowed the company to reduce the overall width of the GS-4047. It currently has an overall width of 1.19 metres in order to accommodate the hydraulic brakes. When fitted with the more compact E-Drive electric motors, the width is reduced to 1.17 metres (46 rather than 47 inches) and becomes the GS-GS-4046.

Product manager Michael Flanagan said: “Owners also will find they spend less on batteries over the life of the scissor lift due to longer runtime per charge and fewer lifetime charge cycles. Based on industry-standard cycle testing, E-Drive scissor lifts have shown a 30 percent increase in runtime per charge, with up to a 20 percent reduction in lifetime battery costs.”

“A 14 degree breakover angle enables these scissor lifts to crest the top of the ramp without bottoming out, eliminating the need to winch machines onto trailers or raise dovetails after partial loading.”

“Our largest GS models benefit significantly from the gradeability and runtime improvements that E-Drive offers. Our small scissor lifts range from the Genie GS-1530, GS-1532, GS-1930, GS-1932, GS-2032 to the GS-2632 - are also available in hydraulic version.”
