Italian spider lift manufacturer CMC has acquired a minority stake in its UK distributor Tracked Spider Sales (TSS) which will now trade as CMC UK.
TSS was officially appointed as the CMC distributor for the UK and Ireland in March 2020 and has since gone on to sell more than 100 CMC spider lifts in the country. Based in Worthing, Sussex, the company offers the manufacturer's full range of petrol/diesel, hybrid, and lithium battery powered spider lifts with working heights from 13 to 41 metres. It also provides after sales support across the UK thanks to a network of ‘authorised service agents’.
The company will initially trade under both TSS and CMC UK brand names, with the plan for a full change over to CMC UK in the spring. It will continue to be run by Russell Woodward, but is joined by Peter Loseby who has been appointed technical director with responsibility for after sales service, LOLERs and repairs. Loseby is also in the process of training additional engineers with support from CMC in Italy. Both Woodward and Loseby have almost 45 years combined experience in the industry and have spent much of their careers with UK rental and sales company Facelift.
Woodward said: “Having got a solid footing in the UK market, it was a natural progression to merge with CMC and form CMC UK in order to give our customers more confidence in both the product and support. I am delighted to be working alongside such a forward-thinking, dynamic, and progressive manufacturer. The company invests around 15 percent of its revenues each year in research and development, ensuring their range of machines meet the demands of their current and future customers.”
Alessandro Mastrogiacomo, CMC export sales director, added: “With this merger and acquisition the message is clear, CMC is not only here to stay but also to become the spider lift market leader in the UK. Since our journey has started with Russell and his team it quickly became a day-to-day relationship with a skillful, experienced, and motivated business partner, which understands business and knows exactly how to deal with British and Irish customers. What we are announcing today, is only the natural consequences of what we have done together in the past 18 months. I’d like to officially announce the birth of CMC UK.”
