Snorkel Elwood’s 10,000th S3219E
Snorkel has completed the 10,000th 19ft S3219E slab electric scissor lift produced at its assembly facility in Elwood, Kansas.
The S3219E was introduced in February 2015 as the first model in a completely redesigned family of Snorkel slab electric scissor lifts, designed and engineered in Elwood. While 10,000 units have been built in Elwood, the company has also produced a further 6,000 units at its three other plants – in the UK, New Zealand and China, taking the grand total to almost 16,000 units worldwide.
The occasion was celebrated with a lunch for all employees at the facility, along with senior executives, owner Don Ahern, chief executive Matthew Elvin, Elwood president, David Smith, and senior vice president of sales for North America, Robby Hagan, along with representatives from local vendors who supply components for the S3219E.

Don Ahern, said, “This is a proud moment for Snorkel, and particularly the Elwood facility who have historically been known for the production of boom lifts. When we redesigned the electric slab scissor range back in 2014, we really focused on making them rental tough, so to be producing the 10,000th unit here today is testament that these products are fulfilling the needs of our customers.”
David Smith added: “I would like to congratulate our team here at Elwood on reaching this impressive milestone. I would also like to thank our vendors for their continued support. This is a great accomplishment which is truly a team effort.”
The 10,000th unit complete with custom decals, was displayed at the lunch and will be shipped to company headquarters in Henderson, Nevada where it will be displayed in the onsite showroom.
