300t corner units from Modulift

Modular spreader beam manufacturer Modulift has produced a new 300 tonne CMOD 250 corner unit which can handle spans between corners of up to 20 x 20 metres.
The corner units come with a new improved design that reduces the contact stresses between the top shackle bow and corner unit centre plate. The design has two rounded contact faces, enabling the shackle bow to contact efficiently.

The first units were taken by Dutch heavy lift company Safe Lifting Europe which has a specific lift planned for them later in the year. A second set of CMOD 250 corner units conforming to ASME cat B are to be shipped to the USA for a heavy lift at a shipbuilding yard.

Safe Lifting Europe operations manager Jacques Vroegop said: “Modulift always have a solution for us when we have a complicated lift, and we were surprised with the CMOD 250. The size of span that it can reach is phenomenal, it really can be a huge frame and we can’t wait to use it later in the year.”

John Baker of Modulift added: “Our CMOD spreader frame range is a firm favourite with our customers and the demand for the product has gone from strength to strength. One of the key selling points of the system is it’s compatibility with the standard Modulift struts, allowing customers to easily transform a beam into a frame. We are really looking forward to seeing both sets of CMOD 250 in action this year.”
