Hird takes first Genie FE telescopics

UK aerial lift, cranes and glass handling rental company Hird has taken delivery of the first two 60ft Genie S-60 FE hybrid telescopic boom lift to be delivered to a UK rental company.

The S-60 FE was launched at Vertikal Days in May having been announced just a few days earlier. See: Genie to launch hybrid telescopics.
The S-60 FE, purchased through Genie distributor Workplatform, offers a working height of 20.6 metres and a maximum outreach of 12.3 metres with a 1.83 metre jib offering 130 degrees of articulation and an unrestricted platform capacity of 300kg.

The new machines use Genie’s tried and tested AC electric wheel motor drive system from the company’s 60ft Z-60 DC and FE articulated boom lifts, with four wheel drive plus electronic traction management, regenerative braking and start-stop technology as well as active oscillating axles. The S-60 DC weighs 7,983kg while the FE version weighs 8,051kg.
