Zoomlion to launch 186ft boom

Zoomlion will launch a new 186ft telescopic boom lift at Bauma this October, along with two new Lithium battery powered articulated booms.

The two articulated boom lifts are simply lithium battery versions of existing machines, such as the 52ft ZA16JERT-Li articulated boom lift which was launched with a traditional battery pack in January, plus the 64ft ZA20JERT-Li, a Rough Terrain version of the ZA20JE unveiled at Vertikal days.

The star of the show however will be the new 186ft ZT58J telescopic boom lift which will go head to head with the Genie SX180 and JLG 1850SJ. The new model is said to be easier to use and more practical than the company's 215ft ZT68J unveiled at bauma China last year as a raw prototype, it has yet to appear outside of China, although the first unit was delivered to Shanghai Lvgong Machinery Engineering in October. In fact the new ZT58 may well be a ZT68 with shorter boom sections? A more practical model perhaps?

The ZT58J features a five section pentagonal main boom topped by a two section six metre telescopic jib with 125 degrees of articulation, offering a 58.8 metre working height, and an outreach up to 25.5 metres, with an unrestricted platform capacity of 300kg. The maximum platform capacity is 454kg available at an outreach of up to 22.5 metres. Overall transport length is 14.4m similar to the JLG but longer than the Genie. overall weight is 29,600kg - substantially higher than both the Genie and JLG models. Power comes from a Cummins diesel.

We will carry a full comparison with the well established Genie SX180 and JLG 1850SJ models in the next Cranes & Access magazine.
