Eight big Hiabs for Spanish Rail
Spanish truck and bodywork company Tecnove has placed a €7.5 million order for eight Hiab iX.2758 Rail super heavy loader cranes including five years ProCare service agreements. Delivery is scheduled to start in the second half of next year.
The cranes will be installed on Tecnove designed road rail trucks and used by a Spanish rail organisation.
The iX.2758 Rail has been designed to meet railway infrastructure standards and is the largest model in the recently launched
Rail series. It has a maximum capacity of 20 tonnes and a maximum radius of 10 metres. It is an ideal solution for rapid response in recovery and emergency situations for both rail and metro networks and can operate below the power lines so the overhead lines do not have to be dismantled. It can also work in confined spaces due its compact dimensions. The stabilisers also allow the vehicle crane to move sideways from one parallel track to another.

The eight units are all equipped with the Hiab’s SPACEevo control system with additional railway safety features to comply with the industry standards as well as connectivity to Hiab’s HiConnect service.
Ronald Verzijl, managing director of Hiab Iberia said: “We are proud to have won this tender with our new railway-specific crane together with our partner Tecnove. This innovative loader and rescue crane solution is a door opener for Hiab into the world-wide railway industry.”
Aldino Zeppelli, senior vice president Heavy & Super Heavy loader cranes added: “This is only the beginning of our ambitious plans to become one of the preferred suppliers to the railway industry. We see a great potential in expanding our offering to the railway industry and with the introduction of the Rail series we have created more choice for the customers and have the capability of creating custom-made solutions.”
