New 120 tonner for McGovern

UK based McGovern Crane Hire has taken delivery of a new 120 tonne Liebherr LTM 1120-4.1.

The four axle crane features a seven section 66 metre main and has been ordered with the 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with hydraulic luffing from in line to 40 degrees. A seven metre main boom extension can be added offering a maximum tip height of more than 94 metres with a maximum radius of 64 metres. The crane has been supplied with a camera for the boom head, full remote controls as well as Liebherr’s VarioBase outrigger set up and monitoring system and VarioBallast adjustable counterweight. The crane is powered by a single Stage V diesel.

The new LTM 1120-4.1

Kieran McGovern said: “The addition of this new LTM 1120 feels like a natural progression for us. We’ve always run compact four axle machines but this one will give us even more scope than the previous cranes with its 66 metre boom. These days our fleet is almost exclusively Liebherr which is an advantage for all of our team as they have an excellent understanding of the Liebherr operating systems. The LTM 1120 hit the road immediately with an eight week hire in the south, making great use of VarioBase, VarioBallast and the boom head camera.”

Established in 1995, family owned McGovern Crane Hire is based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire - between Nottingham and Derby - and has built the business steadily over the years, initially with used cranes, adding its first new crane in 2005 to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary.
Today the fleet ranges from a 3.2 tonne Jekko SPX532 spider crane up to a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain and everything in between including self-erecting mobile tower cranes.
