New Manitou mid range telehandlers

Manitou will unveil an all new four model range of telehandlers at Bauma next week.

All four units share a 3,500kg maximum lift capacity, and offer 7, 9, 11 and 13 metres lift heights, providing the model designations - MT735, MT935, MT1135 and MT1335, all of which have an overall width of 2.28 metres, making them both easier to load on the back of a truck, and be transported in a standard container without having to remove the wheels.

The new models, which are currently only available with diesel power, feature Manitou’s latest technology platform which permits features that are becoming increasingly important to end users and fleet managers, such as automatic parking brakes, engine Start & Stop, more efficient hydraulics with load sensing pump and the flow sharing distributor with multifunction operation, the latest telematics and an in cab information and operational display screen.

The new electrical systems also enable the inclusion of a Safety Pack with a seat belt warning system. All four models also feature an all new wider cab with a substantial increase in the glazed area, including a front cut-out of the windscreen which provides improved all round visibility and a better view of the load even at low boom angles. A new roof grille has sloping blades which is said to improve load visibility regardless of its position.

The new cab also offers a wide range of other improvements, in addition to its size and improved visibility, with easy entry step, and a ‘Harmony’ display screen, as well as the option to move the Double Switch Buttons nearer the armrest, according to preferences of the user for comfort and safety. All four units have centralised lubrication at the rear of the machine, and quick access to the boom components from the rear part of the company’s efforts to simplify maintenance and inspection and reduce the total cost of ownership.

Specification and option variations

All four models are based on a harmonised modular design, but the two larger models the 11 metre MT 1135 and 13 metre MT 1335 have a choice of torque converter or hydrostatic transmission with optional Autopower system, which automatically adapts the engine speed to correspond with the joystick movement on during boom movements, eliminating the need to use the accelerator pedal, while maximising fuel economy.
Other options on these include outriggers – which stow within the 2.28 metre overall width- and a choice of engine, either 75hp or 100hp.They also come with a levelling corrector for safer driving.

Capacities and reach

The seven metre MT735, offers 3.4 metres of forward reach at which it can handle 1,190kg, while capacity at full height is 2,800kg, although it can take the maximum 3,500kg to a height of almost six metres.
The nine metre MT 935 can take 1,500kg to its full height and manage 450kg as its maximum forward reach of 6.4 metres.
The two larger models can take the maximum 3,500kg capacity to full height, while the MT1135 has a maximum forward reach of 7.2 metres with 950kg capacity, and the MT1335 offers a forward reach of 8.65 metres with a capacity of 1,050kg.

New fork carriage

All four models benefit from a new narrower, sturdier floating forks carriage, designed to improve visibility when the boom is lowered, while also being compatible with the 14 and 18 metre models. Forks fold back for greater safety when travelling while making them more compact for transport.

The new models will initially be available in Europe and North America with shipment dues to start at the end of next year.

Vertikal Comment

The new models sound like a major step forward in this range of machines, and Manitou appears to have paid great attention to the details which will make the machines more appealing to end users and operators. We look forward to seeing them and learning more.
