Fatal crane incident

A man died in the Greenwood, Indianapolis, Indiana yesterday after he was struck by a large concrete drainage culvert that was being lowered onto a pit.

The culvert was being lowered into the ground when it apparently an abrupt slew function caused the load to swing into one of the men looking to receive it. The injured man was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Indiana’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration – IOSHA – was notified of the incident.
