Manitowoc opens in Peru

Manitowoc has opened a new sales, parts and service facility in Peru.

The facility is located in the Santiago de Surco, suburb of Lima and will include a parts warehouse and locally based service technicians in order to provide an improved product support for Grove, National Crane and Manitowoc cranes, while Potain sales and product support is provided by local dealer Grúas Etac.

The operation will be managed by Juan Willis - the regional business manager for Peru and Argentina - who joined the company earlier this year from Detroit Power Systems where he was a service manager. He has spent most of his career in various service and operational roles at Komatsu-Mitsui Maquinarias Peru. He reports to Wilson Martinez, sales director for South America.

A statement from the company said: “The new office is part of Manitowoc’s plans to expand its presence in South America to support customers given the strategic importance of Peru in the region. It is the company’s fifth location in the region joining offices in Sao Paulo Brazil, Santiago Chile, Bogota Colombia, and Monterrey in Mexico.

Manitowoc group general manager for Latin America, Cristian Galaz said: “Peru is an important market for Manitowoc that has been growing over the years. We are very excited about the opportunity to enhance our services in the country. With the new office, our customers can rely on direct and efficient local support. In addition to parts and services, the new office will provide technical training and machine refurbishment services in the near future.”
