Triple crane theft

Sometime over last weekend thieves broke into the premises of truck body manufacturer and Palfinger dealer Efab on an industrial park in Uppsala, Sweden, stealing three Palfinger cranes that were waiting to be installed on trucks.

The break in was not discovered until early Monday morning when the first staff members arrived to find that the lock on the gate would not work. It seems that the thieves had removed the lock and replaced it with another, once inside they discovered the three cranes were gone. The combined weight of the three cranes is in excess of 13 tonnes.

Chief executive Peter Håkansson said: These are not items that you can hide or sneak out with you. My firm opinion is that this robbery was the work of a professional team, possibly stealing to order and the whole thing must have been carefully planned.”

“We have been in the industry for more than 30 years and neither we nor our industry colleagues have been affected by anything like this before. We already have patrolling surveillance and alarms. What we must do now is to make it even more difficult for outsiders such as this to enter our yard.”

If anyone sees three Palfinger cranes or gets offered them do be on the alert. We have made contact with Efab and will hopefully be able to publish the serial numbers.

Definitely inside job. They knew what, when, where and how.

Wouldn't surprise me, if it was an inside-job.
