The 224 tonne/metre flat top crane has a maximum capacity of 12.5 tonnes in four fall set up, at a radius of 21.5 metres or 8.5 tonnes on two falls at up to 30 metre radius. The jib can be installed with lengths of 30 to 65 metres in 2.5 metre increments. Jib tip capacity at 65 metres is 2.3 tonnes or 2.5 tonnes with the ‘Wolff Boost’ function activated. The crane comes with a combined UV 20/TV 20 tower connection allowing it to be mounted on a two metre square tower to a freestanding height of 69 metres, or 106 metres on a 2.9 metre square tower.

The crane can also be equipped with a Wolff’s new High-speed positioning assistance system, that uses a series of sensors to prevent load swing even when operated at speed or my a less experienced operator.

Wolffkran’s European operations director Dave Holder said: ”After initially considering Wolff a decade ago, Moortown has now opted for the 6523.12 Clear. This decision was supported by extensive technical assistance from our UK team and regular updates on the Sunderland Eye Infirmary project, which indicated that the crane with its 50 metre jib was the ideal choice for this and future projects. Furthermore, a comprehensive service agreement ensures up to a decade of major parts warranty, with our technical specialists handling all maintenance needs.”

The project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2026.

The Moortown group was established in Leeds in 1998 by Thomas McManus and in 2000 began building its own equipment fleet - largely mobile and crawler cranes, excavators and dumpers, adding tower cranes in 2016. Today the company is managed by Aiden McManus who along with his sister Victoria set up an associate company V&A Homes in 2018.
