Big Crane man

When the fire and rescue department were called in to rescue the operator of a 50 metre high tower crane in Washington DC last week, they considered that they faced a tough enough challenge.

When they got to the cab though they discovered that the man weighed around 350lbs/160 kgs making it very difficult to get him out of the cab and on to a stretcher.

Thanks to his extreme weight the rescue took over an hour of struggling before they managed to get him onto a special platform and to lower him onto the roof of the building roughly 10 metres below the crane’s cab.

No details of what his ‘medical emergency’ was have been released.
