Geda lifts and hoists have been chosen for the renovation of the iconic Oslo City Hall, in Norway. Inaugurated in 1950, the building is an iconic landmark where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded each year. It also symbolises Norway's independence from Sweden.
The 30 story building is undergoing refurbishment to address damage caused by weather and saltwater exposure.The renovation began in 2022 and is being led by Oslo Stillas Utleie which opted for two Geda 300 Z scaffolding installation and dimantle lifts as well along with a Geda Multilift P18 Premium.
The City Hall under renovation
The 400V Geda 300 Z can be erected by a single person and featrues a 1.4 metre by 800mm platform with a capacity of 300kg, it has a maxium height of 100 metres with a lift speed of 30 metres a minute. The first step of the refurbishment involved setting up scaffolding on the 65 metre high eastern tower using the Geda 300 Z.Once the work on the eastern tower was complete, the scaffolding was dismantled and reassembled on the western tower - also 65 metres in height - which underwent the same renovation.
The Geda P18 at work
While the two Geda 300 Z’s were used exclusively to erect scaffold, the the Multilift P18 was used to transport people and materials to the upper levels. The P18 has the same 100 metre maxium lift height, but offers a lift speed of 40 metres a minute. The passenger car is 3.7 metres by 1.4 metres in size and is able to transport 25 people with a capacity of 2,000kg.

he Left hand tower has now been completed with the P18 remianing on site in order to help complete work on the right hand tower which is scheduled for completion in 2025.
