Flagship spider for Unity

UK based rental company, operator and driver supplier Unity Operators has taken delivery of a new 39 metre Teupen Leo 39GT Plus spider lift.

The Bridgwater based company issued a tight specification for the new platform which was custom built and painted. Features include hydraulically adjustable tracks for height and width, wireless radio remote control, display screens at both base controls and in platform, a lifting device attachment and tree care protection package.

The Leo 39GT Plus, features a four section lower boom, topped by a three section top boom and articulating jib, providing a maximum working height of 38.6 metres and up to 23.3 metres of outreach with 140kg in the platform. The maximum platform capacity of 400kg or 450kg with Lifting Device is available at an outreach of up to 18.5 metres, while below ground reach is 12 metres. The machine’s overall weight is 8,790kg.

The unit was supplied through Teupen distributor Spider Ops of Mansfield, managing director Alex Weston said: “The deal has taken some time, but we are proud to have supplied the flagship tracked spider lift from Teupen, which is now fully available to rent nationally, from Unity Operators along with their fleet of other highly configured Teupen spider lifts in the fleet”

Unity Operators was established by owner Robert Evans in 2017, while sister company IPAF Drivers dates from 2013. In addition to providing trained aerial work platform operators and delivery drivers, the company runs a fleet of specialist platforms, including spider lifts, topped by the new Leo 39GT.

Surely there’s a conflict of interest if using this company to supply drivers? The drivers feed back the relevant information providing them with customers to then hire to?
