Kinshofer acquires GMT

German lifting attachment manufacturer Kinshofer has acquired arborist company GMT Equipment in a move to strengthen and improve its presence in the arborist industry.

GMT (Gierkink Machine Techniek) is a family business established in 1998 specialising in the maintenance, repair and the sales of equipment for arborists. In 2010 the company produced its first in house designed and built product, the GMT035 grapple saw. By 2013 this part of the business was proving quite a success, so the company was split into Gierkink Machine Techniek and Gierkink Machine Service in 2013 with Gierkink Machine Techniek focusing on the production and sale of grapple saws and and similar products, changing its name to GMT in 2019.

Kinshofer chief executuve Thomas Friedrich said: “Kinshofer's strategy is to provide the industry with a ‘one stop shop’ for outstandingly engineered products to increase efficiency and more importantly profitability for its customers. The acquisition of GMT equipment is the next step in our approach to becoming a global industry leader with a solid presence.”

GMT managing director Michel Gierkink added: “The concentration of knowledge and competence particularly in the crane attachment segment, will form a powerful centre for future development that our customers can only benefit from. The combination of both product ranges will create more ground breaking innovations for the industry. The whole GMT team equipment team, will not only stay with the busienss but is excited to be part of this future.”

Headquartered in Holzkirchen, Bavaria, Kinshofer offers wide range of loader crane and other attachments for sectors raning from demolition, construction, forestry and recycling. This is the company’s 13th acquisition having previously acquired Liftall (Canada), Demarec (Netherlands), RF Systems (Sweden), Auger Torque (UK, Australia & China), Solesbee (USA), The Doherty Group (New Zealand & Australia), Hammer, Cangini Benne and Trevi Benne (Italy), Prolec (UK), HGT Greifer- Technologies (Germany) and more recently Eurosteel (Netherlands).
