Dutch international heavy lift and transport company Roll Group has opened a new project office and yard in Saint Gabriel, due south of Baton Rouge in Louisiana.
The addition is aimed at expanding Roll’s coverage along the Gulf Coast region in order to provide a local full service and integrated engineered heavy lift and project logistics services for the company’s customers in the energy, petrochemical, infrastructure, and industrial construction sectors.
The new facility includes a 200 square metre office and three acres of laydown/storage area, with access to an additional five acres. It offers immediate access to key industrial corridors throughout Louisiana and along the Mississippi River.

Roll Lift’s Gary Summers said: “We have always strived to serve the market, and around 10 percent of the petroleum industry lies between Lake Charles and New Orleans. Now we are not only serving the market but are local. We can be part of the community, part of the culture. We’re glad to be here and look forward to bigger and better things in Louisiana.”
Louisiana commercial manager Michael Crawford added: “This office opens up more opportunities and territory for us to grow and succeed. It puts us in a whole new category. I have been with Roll Lift for four years and in the industry for 22. I was born and raised here in Louisiana, and I know that being local will allow us to respond faster and work more efficiently with clients on the ground. I see a bright future here for Roll Group.”

Roll Group specialises in the transport and lifting of large modular cargo, from fabrication yards to final destination, with an integrated ‘Land-Sea’ model which it says streamlines operations from origin to destination, reducing handover risks and ensuring a cohesive execution plan that can scale to meet the most ambitious industrial projects.
The Roll Group was established in 2006 by Frans van Seumeren, a year after he parted company with Mammoet. The first part of the business was Roll Dock, a specialised shipping company, launching its first vessel in 2010. It moved into the heavy crane market in 2011 and now runs a fleet of heavy lift cranes up to 4,000 tonnes.
Roll-Lift USA was established in 2014, since then the company has gone on to open operations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. The original Roll Dock business now has 10 vessels in its fleet.
