Chinese construction equipment manufacturer XCMG's 4,000 tonne XGC88000 crawler crane was used to install a massive 26 megawatt offshore wind turbine in Shandong, China.

The turbine has a hub centre height of 185 metres and rotor sweep area of 77,000 square metres. The installation required alignment of around 200 bolts at a height of 200 metres on soft tidal flat foundations which were reinforced using piling techniques and ground pre-levelling. Aerial coordination was used to help position the 1,000 tonne nacelle. Once operational, the turbine will generate 100 million kilowatt-hours a year, sufficient to power 55,000 households.
The XGC88000 has been deployed on 20 projects since 2013, including Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia and Duqm Refinery in Oman. See: First job for 4,000 tonne XCMG
