Scottish rental and heavy haulage company Global Crane Services has taken delivery of the 1,000th 90 tonne Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2 mobile crane, the fifth unit of this type in the company's fleet.

The four axle LTM 1090-4.2 features a 60 metre main boom plus a 9.5 to 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with manual offset to offer a maximum tip height of just under 80 metres. Features include Liebherr’s VarioBase variable outrigger setup and remote control system, along with Ecodrive and Ecomode systems, which help improve fuel consumption, while reducing emissions and noise.
Global Crane Services operations director Frank McAlonan said: "It's a model that has truly proven its capabilities. We already have four of them in the fleet and are very happy with them."

Head of operations Charlie Lowe added: "The LTM 1090-4.2 is a very versatile and powerful crane, and for us covers a very wide range of applications, from timber construction and finished parts assembly to port handling, for instance the loading of wind turbine blades. We also use it in the oil and gas industry, as well as using it as an auxiliary crane for our large cranes."
Global Crane Services was established in 2013 as a division of Global Port Services - part of the Global Energy Group based in Inverness following the acquisition of Port Services Group - which traced its roots back to 1986. The Global group owns the Port of Nigg facility at the entrance to the Cromarty Firth. The group operates around 70 mobile cranes with lifting capacities from 40 to 750 tonnes, with all but one from Liebherr.
