Prior to MEC MacFarland spent 14 years with EPW - Equipment Parts Wholesale - which at one time had the same ownership as MEC, becoming a ‘sister' company before it was acquired by TVH in 2014. McFarland remained with EPW as general manager and later president. His working life began with the U.S. Marine Corps, until joining aerial lift manufacturer UpRight in 1995, a technical support manager and then parts and product support manager responsible for the day to day management of the division. In 2002 he left the company to establish EPW with colleague Jim Tolle in 2002.

David White said: “Brian has been instrumental to our leadership team through our tremendous growth, and the time is right for this transition. He has the leadership, vision, relationships, industry experience and operational knowledge to take MEC to even greater heights as a mainstream supplier of scissors boom lifts and mast lifts. It has been an honour to serve as MEC’s president, and I look forward to supporting MEC in my new capacity.”

MacFarland added: “I am honoured and excited for the opportunity to lead MEC as its next president. We are all extremely thankful to David White for his leadership, strength and resilience to fuel MEC’s growth. David’s time will be best remembered for establishing MEC as a high quality, niche provider while building a foundation for MEC to become more mainstream, having greater industry influence and significance. I appreciate that David will remain close to the business in an advisory capacity – his knowledge of the industry and the products is invaluable.”
