MEC expands parts business

US manufacturer MEC Aerial Work Platforms has appointed Brian MacFarland as vice president of an expanded replacement parts business.

MacFarland joins MEC after 14 years with EPW (Equipment Parts Wholesale) -see MacFarland joins EPW- which for a period had the same ownership as MEC, until it became a co-owned ‘sister' company and was then acquired by TVH in 2014. McFarland remained with EPW as general manager and later president. He also owns Printasaurus, the printing and signage division of EPW. He began his career in 1995 with UpRight becoming its technical support manager and then parts and product support manager responsible for the day to day activities before leaving with Jim Tolle to establish EPW in 2002.

In his new role he is responsible for expanding MEC’s new parts business which supplies replacement parts for most brands of aerial work platform as well as its own. As part of the company’s strategy to build a new all brand parts business, one of his first jobs involves building an effective parts e-commerce platform as part of a programme to step up overall customer satisfaction.
