German rental company Schweri Autokrane has taken delivery of a 45 tonne Tadano AC 3.045-1 City type All Terrain crane, trading in an old Demag AC 40 City for the latest addition.
The handover
The three axle crane features a 31.2 metre main boom plus a 7.1 to 13 metre swingaway extension, taking the maximum tip height to more than 45 metres. The crane also comes with Tadano’s Flex Base variable outrigger set-up, with the crane control system monitoring the extension and slew position to calculate the optimum load chart for the configuration. The unit will be used primarily for indoor work at industrial facilities.

Schweri managing director Leonhard Zerni said: “The AC 40 came through for us time and time again, but saying goodbye was not particularly hard. After all, we know that the AC 3.045 City can do everything better, and we got a really good trade in value for the AC 40 from Tadano. Its compact design and incredible manoeuvrability make it an ideal crane for work in extremely tight spaces, so it is simply unbeatable when it comes to indoor projects.”
Based in Krefeld, North Rhine Westphalia, Schweri Autokranbetriebe runs a fleet of truck and All Terrain cranes ranging from seven to 500 tonnes, along with Rough Terrains. It also runs an aerial lift fleet with working heights ranging from five to 40 metres, and telehandlers up to 17 metres/4,500kg.
