BMS Stangeland, the Joint Venture between Danish crane and access rental company BMS and Norway’s Stangeland, have purchased 15 new Sany Rough Terrain and All Terrain cranes for their operations in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, with 10 hybrid 250 tonners due at the end of the year and into next year.
The 15 new cranes arrive at the port
The initial 15 unit order, placed through Sany distributor Seabrokers, includes 10 Sany SRE 1100, 110 tonne Rough Terrains, plus five 250 tonne Sany SAC2500E five axle All-Terrains. The cranes began arriving in Drammen, Norway at the end of the Summer and are now in operation. Eight of the 15 have been allocated to the Crane Norway group, with the other seven placed with Havator Sweden and Havator Finland, which the JV acquired last May.
BMS Stangeland’s chief operating officer Trond Helge Skretting, who also heads Crane Norway, said: “This is a significant step in strengthening our presence throughout Scandinavia. These machines are of top quality and come equipped with advanced technical features that will be highly appreciated by our operators.”
At the start of this year, the company took a 200 tonne Sany lattice crawler crane along with an 80 tonne telescopic crawler both of which have been working in the Oslo region for the past 10 months.
“We are extremely satisfied with their performance,” added Skretting, “The Sany factory and Seabrooks have provided outstanding service and support, but reliability is, of course, the key priority for us.”

The order is part of and confirmation of a growing interest in the Nordic countries for Chinese, and particularly Sany cranes.
Ken Yang, crane sales manager at Sany Northern Europe, said: “For a long time, we have listened to our customers and really taken their feedback to heart, and then of course back to the manufacturing facility. The demands from customers, in regard to making some modifications to the cranes, vary in complexity, but so far, we have been able to accommodate everyone. I believe this, coupled with the fact that our cranes are, by industry standards, very smart investments from day one, gives us a clear edge in the market.”
