Vietnam maritime company Baria Serece Phu My Port has taken delivery of a 144 tonne Liebherr LPS 550 electric rail-mounted port crane.
The crane arrives on site
The crane has a maximum capacity of 144 tonnes with a 48 metre boom capable of handling around 1,200 tonnes an hour. It features Liebherr’s hydrostatic and electric main drive, with a diesel engine for backup during power outages. Its four rope grab system enhances material flow, while storm anchors and robust structural design ensure stability in challenging weather. It will be operational on the Thi Vai River southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in Southern Vietnam.

Liebherr Harbour cranes general manager Andreas Ritschel said: “Engineering decisions at Baria Serece were driven by space, cycle time and reliability. A rail mounted portal crane with four rope grab control offers the stability and handling speed the terminal requires, without sacrificing quay access for landside logistics.”
Baria Serece Phu My is a key bulk handling terminal for vessels transporting agri-commodities, fertilisers and general cargo from international and domestic markets. The port features two berths with a combined length of 620 metres and is designed to receive vessels up to 100,000 deadweight tonnes.
