As Christmas approached at Legoland in California, the theme park built its 30ft high Christmas Tree from what else but Lego bricks. More than 366,000 of them, along with Duplo bricks crafted over the course of 3,000 hours by the park’s master model builders.

The tree was then installed with the use of an aerial work platform and a telehandler.
A 16.5 metre/5,400kg Xtreme VCM 1254 telehandler picked & carried the tree sections into place, and then lifted them into place, while a 45ft JLG 450A articulated boom lift was used by the installers when working at height. It looks as though a smaller boom lift might have sufficed- but Hey Ho, that is all too often the case.

The tree includes decorations, lights, with candy canes, stars, and candles.

Many of you sent us short social media video clips of the installation, but we have managed to obtain a copy of the original footage from the park, which you can see below.
If you are a Lego fan and interested in the build detail the photos below show some of them.
The tree, along with all the other festive features, will remain in place until January 4th, with special seasonal evening events planned for New Year's Eve. The Park is located in Carlsbad, halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego.
