Based in Bruckmühl, southeast of Munich, Kunze was founded in 1988 by Karl Kunze, who stepped down in 2022 with his son, Charly Kunze, taking over. He founded the company as an aerial work platform dealer covering southern Germany, and particularly Bavaria, later adding a second company, Kunze Rental and Service, to handle a trailer lift he had acquired. The company now runs a rental fleet of more than 120 platforms, while also distributing and supporting spider cranes, aerial work platforms and glass handing equipment from three locations - with depots in Lüdinghausen - between Dortmund and Münster and one across the border in St. Johann, Austria - near Graz. It is also a dealer for Platform Basket, Jekko, Almac and Elba cranes.
