More 70m Brontos for Boom

Australian crane and aerial lift rental company Boom Logistics has taken four new 70 metre Bronto S70XR truck mounted lifts.

The new machines are a part of Boom’s current fleet renewal "Asset Regeneration" and expansion project in order to meet growing demand for machines of this size. The latest order comes almost 25 years after the company purchased its first unit from the Finnish manufacturer in 1991.

The S70XR offers a maximum outreach of 38 metres with 120kg in the platform, almost 35 metres with 360kg and just over 30 metres with the maximum platform capacity of 700kg.

An Australian delegation from Boom Logistics and Bronto’s Australian distribution partner, GFS/Bronto Skylift AUNZ, visited the Bronto facility in order to inspect the new machines before they shipped down under.

Shane McLaughlin, Boom Logistics’ business manager – ‘travel towers’ said: “These four units are the first of hopefully many. They will replace older machines and, at the same time, help us build the fleet back up in a planned, sustainable way. On major projects, 70 metres and above is where the work is, they are the most called for machine in our market.”

“While smaller platforms remain essential for a range of applications, Boom’s focus is increasingly on large scale project work. The Bronto S70XR offers the reach, stability and working envelope required for complex tasks in challenging environments and remote locations”

“Operating across Australia means equipment must perform reliably in demanding and remote conditions, where downtime can have a significant impact on project schedules and customer operations. For Boom, that is where Bronto stand above the rest.”

Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Boom Logistics is a publicly quoted company with more than 800 employees at 17 locations across Australia, with a fleet of 280 cranes with capacities from 25 up to 750 tonnes, along with 40 truck mounted platforms/travel towers from 18 to 70 metres. Revenues last year were A$265 million ($188 million).
