Brazil's Imetame group has added four Liebherr All Terrain cranes to its equipment fleet, for installation work at the Arauco's Sucuriú Project, one of the world’s largest pulp mills.
The cranes include two four axle models, the 90 tonne LTM 1090 4.2, and 120 tonne LTM 1120 4.1, and two five axle cranes, the 230 tonne LTM 1230 5.1 and 250 tonne LTM 1250 5.1.

The $4.6 billion Arauco Sucuriú plant is located 50km from Inocência, Mato Grosso do Sul, and around 800km west of São Paulo. and will produce 3.5 million tonnes of short fibre pulp a year. and will be supplied by 400,000 hectares of sustainable eucalyptus plantations owned by Arauco.
It is apparently the largest pulp mill in the world to be built in a single stage. Key tasks for the new cranes will include installing the plant’s structure, including complex pipelines /pipe racks and chimneys, along with the drying and fibre lines. It will be the company’s largest undertaking ever in terms of assembled volume. Completion is expected by the end of 2027.
Ronaldo Sarcinelli, the operations manager for Imetame Metalmecânica, the group’s installation and maintenance business, said: “The cranes are perfectly adapted to our operational requirements and ensure productivity and high performance even in complex environments.”

Based in Aracruz- north of Rio, Imetame was established in 1980 as a machining and welding contractor – Imatame Metalmecânica - by a young lathe operator Etore Selvatici Cavallieri. Today it runs it also runs its plants, in the structural stone industry, along with energy production, oil & gas and port services operations, with more than 5,000 employees.
