Italian spider lift manufacturer CMC has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in its German distributor CMC Arbeitsbühnen and its technical support provider Equipment Service from the founder and owner of both operations, Dieter Roters.
Spider lift veteran Roters set up Equipment Service in 2016 as an aerial lift service provider in Germany and Austria, and was appointed to handle CMC service in 2017. The company has also provided service for CTE since 2023 along with Bronto truck mounted lifts and Haulotte booms and scissor lifts.
In late 2018, he established CMC Arbeitsbühnen to take over the sales and distribution of CMC in Germany. The two companies operate from the same address in Metelen – North west of Düsseldorf towards the Dutch border. Equipment Service also runs a network of nine regional service points across Germany.
The Equipment Service network
The combined business will become CMC Deutschland and will act as the commercial and logistics hub for CMC across the entire German speaking region, including Austria, Switzerland and Germany, “coordinating product and service flows and leading business development in the area”. All employees are expected to remain on board, while Dieter Roters has been appointed as managing director.
The transaction aims to strengthen its coverage and market share by bringing sales and after-sales activities together under a single operating structure and part of its ongoing programme to consolidate its distribution network, which began with the 2024 acquisition of its US distributor All Access Equipment, and more recently plans to consolidate its Nordic region distribution. CMC says that the plan is driven by the Metrika fund, which acquired a 70 percent stake in the business in 2022, along with the founding families and ongoing shareholders Moretti and Mastrogiacomo.
Dieter Roters said: "This transaction allows us to structurally strengthen CMC’s presence in Germany and across the region. We will finally have an integrated logistics hub capable of responding with even greater efficiency and quality than our customers have known for years. I am proud to lead this new phase together with the team that has built the success of the CMC brand in such an important market area."
CMC chief executive Stefano Di Santo added;"The acquisition of CMC Arbeitsbühnen and Equipment Service represents a decisive step in our internationalisation strategy. The area is a key market for us, and this move will enable us to serve it with a solid, integrated structure focused on long term growth."
