First of four for Schlamann

German rental company Schlamann has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain crane, the first of a four unit order, the other cranes being a 55 tonne LTM 1055-3.3 and 150 tonne LTM 1150-5.4 All Terrains, plus a 60 tonne LTF 1060-4.1 commercial chassis truck mount. All of which are scheduled for delivery over the next few months.

The five axle crane is equipped with an eight section, 75 metre main boom and can be topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. Up to three, seven metre inserts can also be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a maximum tip height of 113 metres. The crane will be used primarily for tower crane installation, wind turbine maintenance and installing electricity pylons.

Managing director, Torsten Schlamann, said: “As part of the energy transition, demand for electricity pylon installation has increased, and this trend is set to continue over the coming years. Thanks to its long telescopic boom, the LTM 1230-5.1 can handle this work without the need for the lattice extension.”
His daughter Katharina added: “Our operators are delighted with the new driver assistance systems, such as the blind spot information system.”

Based in Nienburg, northern Germany, Schlamann runs a fleet of 23 cranes, topped by a 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.3 which was delivered last year, along with aerial work platforms and forklifts from four locations. The company employs 95 people with a total fleet of more than 300 machines.
