CPL unveils new 14m pick-up

UK access platform specialist CPL, part of France's Klubb group, has launched a new 14 metre pickup truck mounted platform, the KA14, at an event at Kinestics Studios in Corby, Northampton, in the UK.

Mounted on an Isuzu D-Max 4x4 chassis, the new lift features a single riser topped by a two section telescopic boom, for a working height of 14.2 metres, and outreach of 6.5 metres. Maximum platform capacity is 240kg. The company says the boom is manufactured from "optimised steel" to maximise performance while maintaining a low centre of gravity for stable off road travel, with all hoses and cabling routed internally. The platform is aimed primarily at utility and telecom operators, as well as the professional tree care market.

CPL founder and chief executive Paul Murphy said: "We are incredibly proud to bring the KA14 to the market. By maintaining a robust, highly localised supply chain, we are not only supporting British manufacturing but also ensuring that our clients face minimal lead times. This machine is built to perform in the absolute toughest conditions, and we have the production line fully geared up to deliver. This is a project 15 years in the making, and it's now here.”

CPL pioneered the mounting of platforms on 4x4 pick-up chassis, starting out with the 13.5 metre Socage A314, which completely obsoleted the Land-Rover based truck mounts that were fairly widely used at the time.

In 2017 it switched to the 13.1 metre Palfinger P130A, but gave up the Palfinger Platform distribution rights to APS at the start of this year. Overall, it has sold well over 1,000 such machines and remains a dominant force in this market.

You can be fairly sure that it will have used all of the experience it has gained over the past 15 years or more in this market to ensure that the new model is better than what has gone before.
