Bridgestone's new crane tyre

Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone has started deliveries of its new 445/95R25 V-Steel Highway Service 3 tyre for All Terrain and truck cranes.

The VHS3 tyre - launched in October last year - replaces the VHS2 in Bridgestone's range, it has a load/speed index of 174 F, providing a capacity of 6,700kg at speeds of up to 80kph. It uses a new rubber compound and sidewall construction which the manufacturer says reduces heat build-up and irregular wear, extending tyre life by around 12 percent compared with its predecessor. The 23mm tread has wide grooves and extended lugs. The casing has also been redesigned with a lighter belt, bead structure and shoulder design which, the manufacturer says, reduces fuel consumption while maintaining load capacity.

Rob Cole of Bridgestone said: “By combining increased tyre life with enhanced grip and stability and a lighter, more efficient casing, we have created a tyre that can help crane companies reduce downtime and operating costs without compromising durability.”

Bridgestone was founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in 1931 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It has 105 manufacturing facilities and employs 115,720 people worldwide selling its products in approximately 150 countries. It makes tyres for cranes, cars, buses, mining vehicles, aircrafts and motorcycles amongst other things.
