New MD for Uperio UK

Franco Belgian international tower crane rental group Uperio has appointed Adrian Hawkins as managing director of Uperio UK, which trades as Highsparks in Scotland and Skyline in England.

He joins the company from Wolffkran UK, where he has been sales director for the past four and a half years. As managing director of Uperio UK he will be based in Rainham on the east side of London, and be responsible for all of the company’s UK operations and its two locations in Rainham and Douglas, Scotland.

Hawkins began his career in the crane industry in 2002 with crane, general and aerial lift rental company Hewden, moving through various sales roles before taking over as head of strategic projects. When Hewden closed its doors in 2016, he moved to Marubeni-Komatsu as general manager of sales development, making the move to Wolffkran in mid 2022.

In the announcement the company said: “Throughout his career Adrian has built a strong track record in commercial performance, operational improvement, project execution and organisational development. He is known for his customer-centric approach and unwavering commitment to health & safety, while consistently delivering sustainable growth, developing high performing teams and supporting long term business transformation along the way.”

Group chief executive Rémy Breton added: “Adrian combines deep industry expertise with an authentic leadership style focused on people, customers and operational excellence. About Uperio

Uperio was formed in 2019 when Belgian tower crane specialist Arcomet merged with France’s Matebat, having shared the same ownership for several years.

The company is one of the world's largest tower crane rental companies with a fleet that exceeds 1,800 units based across Europe and North America, while also manufacturing Arcomet self-erecting cranes and Opti crane. It has been owned by TowerBrook Capital Partners since 2021.

The UK business is the result of a number of mergers and acquisitions over the years including Highsparks in Scotland in 2020 and Skyline in England in 2016.
