Mollo acquires Ruini

Italian rental group Mollo has taken a majority stake in Ruini Marco group, a rental and equipment sales company based in Scandiano near Reggio Emilia. The deal strengthens Mollo's presence in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.

Founded in 1982, Ruini sells and rents aerial work platforms, lifting equipment, earthmoving machinery and forklifts from seven locations with around 70 employees, and generated revenues of €12 million last year.

Ruini’s current management team will remain on board, while the company will continue to operate independently, and Marco Ruini will also stay on to support the business. The size of the stake has not been disclosed See: Mollo's €170 million plans.

Mollo president Mauro Mollo said: "The addition of Ruini marks a significant milestone in our growth journey and further strengthens our presence in Emilia-Romagna. In the past 40 years of business, Ruini has built expertise, relationships and deep local knowledge, while developing a highly comprehensive range of offerings. We recognise in these characteristics many of the values that have driven our own growth. Our goal is to grow together, creating new synergies and continuing to provide our customers with proximity, expertise and an increasingly comprehensive, high-quality service."

Marco Ruini added: "We have chosen to embark on this journey with Mollo because we share their industrial vision and commitment to service quality. Joining a group of this scale allows us to offer our customers an even wider range of solutions while maintaining strong ties to the local area. I will continue to support the company, ensuring the operational and management continuity that our customers and employees expect."

Established in 1971, Mollo expanded purely organically until it set out on an acquisition trail in 2022. Its most recent deal was Truck Mobil last December. The group now has 85 locations across Italy, more than 700 employees and a rental fleet of around 20,000 units, with 2025 revenues of more than €180 million.
