A man died last Wednesday evening in Houston, Texas, after coming into contact with a power line while working on AT&T telecommunication lines from the basket of a truck mounted lift / bucket truck
The incident occurred in northwest Houston where, according to the local police, the telephone lines share the same poles as the overhead power lines. The man worked with Texas based telecommunications contractor GUS (Generations Utility Services) an AT&T subcontractor.
The bucket truck following the rescue
Any rescue had to wait for the electrical provider, Centre Point Energy, to arrive and shut off the power supply. Once they did, the emergency services used the lift's emergency lowering system to bring the man down. But it was too late to save him, and he was declared dead at the scene.
