Twickenham access

Parry Bowen the specialist façade contractor has been working on the new £80 million South Stand at Twickenham Rugby Football Club, the home of the England rugby team.

The South Stand redevelopment includes a 156 room hotel, six VIP Suites with views over the pitch, conference and exhibition space, fitness club and office space.

The design called for access equipment to be provided on all five levels of the building to install glass curtain walling. In order to help solve the access challenges Parry Bowen called in Nationwide Access its preferred supplier for the project.

Construction on many levels

Nationwide supplied a large number of UpRight LX31 scissors lifts, which it says are ideal for the curtain walling installation. Their low weight also helps when it comes to being lifted onto upper levels. A number of 45ft and 85ft boom lifts were also supplied.

Paul Casterton, project manager for Parry Bowen said “Due to the complexity of the installation, we required the correct machinery to ensure that suitable access to the work areas could be achieved. Nationwide's large range of machines allowed the installation to be carried out in accordance with the latest programme and most importantly in a manner, which was safe to both the Parry Bowen operatives and other trades working in close proximity”.
