Man falls from crane

An electrician died on Friday after he fell from the overhead crane he was working on at the Eramet Special products plant in Marietta, Ohio. Charles “Chuck” Hatcher, 52, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Marietta Memorial Hospital after falling around nine metres.

Hatcher had been employed as an electrician at Eramet’s Ohio 7 facility south of Marietta for nearly four years, he was performing a routine inspection on the crane which is located in a furnace building when he fell.

OSHA officials arrived late on Friday to conduct an investigation while the company said that that it appeared its safety regulations were being followed at the time of the accident.
