Irish contractor fined over scaffolding death

A Galway construction contractor has been fined €3,000 for not having a safe scaffolding in place after a plasterer fell to his death.

Wheelmount Ltd, Corrib Hostel, Camp St, Oughterard pleaded guilty to two offences at Dunmore District Court this week following the accident on a north Galway site in November 2005.

The 52-year old married man, Padraig Daly of Knockatee, Dunmore, was working as a plasterer on a construction site in Williamstown when he fell about 20 feet and died from his injuries.
