Liebherr unveils new 150 tonner

Liebherr unveiled its new 150 tonne, long boomed taxi crane, at last weeks Smopyc show in Zaragoza, Spain.

The six axle LTM 1150-6.1 boasts a six section, 66 metre Telematik main boom that extends to 93 metres hook height and 76 metres radius, with the 10.8 to 19 m bi-fold swingaway extension which can be hydraulically luffed between 0 and 40 degrees under full load, and seven metres lattice inserts.

The 150 tonner Liebherr LTM1150-6.1 - Taxi crane

With 60 metre main boom the LTM1150 can lift 11 tonnes, making it ideally designed for tower crane assembly. When extended to its full 66 metres the crane offers a capacity of 7.7 tonnes.

The new crane can carry up to 15 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loads. In markets such as the UK where 12 tonne axle loads are not critical, the crane will be able to travel almost fully equipped with up to 30.8 tonnes of counterweight. Two eight tonne side slabs take the maximum counterweight up to 46.8 tonnes.

The superstructure cab tilts up to 20 degrees and is equipped with a sidewise extendable foot board.

The six axle crane carrier has an overall length of only 13.5 metres, which coupled with its turning radius of 11 metres, is only slightly greater many five axle 150/160 tonne All Terrain cranes. The active rear axle steering, automatically modifies the angle of the rear axles depending on the travel speed. All six axles steer, avoiding the need to lift middle axles in crab steer mode.

The carrier’s overall width is just 2.75 metres with 16:00 tyres, pneumatic disk brakes are standard for greater efficiency, longer service intervals and fast exchange of the brake pads, which are equipped with wear indicators.

The power train includes a Liebherr V8 turbo charged engine and 12-speed ZF-TC-Tronic gearbox with automatic gear change and dry clutch for improved fuel consumption. A torque converter provides smooth creep speeds during start of driving as well as for manoeuvring.
