The founder of the Mitie Group dies

The Mitie group has announced the death of its founder and president for life David Telling after suffering a long illness.

Telling stood down as executive chairman on the 25 September this year due to ongoing ill health, then on 10 October it was announced that he was standing down from all duties at Mitie, and finally on Friday 31 October he passed away.

Prior to starting with Mitie, the support services group with activities from contract cleaning to scaffolding, Telling was chairman and CEO of the HAT Group.

From the beginning, Mite was unusual in that its managers invested and owned part of the businesses they ran, with buy back ratios established up front.

The Mitie Group can count at any one time, tens, if not hundreds of millionaires among its management ranks thanks to this unusual but highly successful business system.
