Fassi for Hallett Silbermann
Hertfordshire, UK, based haulage company Hallett Silbermann has taken delivery of three new loader cranes from Fassi UK, including a new flagship for its fleet.
The order includes a 63 tonne/metre F660 AXP.26 crane mounted on a Volvo FM 8X2 tractor unit which is now the largest in the company’s fleet. The crane has a maximum lift capacity of 16 tonnes, and will take over three tonnes out to its maximum radius of 16 metres.
The balance of the order comprises two 20 tonne/metres F235 AXP.24 cranes mounted on Volvo FE 6x4 rigid chassis. These units have a maximum capacity of just over five tonnes and will take 1.3 tonnes out to almost 13 metres radius.

Hallett Silbermann’s four Fassi cranes (L-R) the F260AXP, the two new F235 AXP cranes and the F660AXP.
The order follows the purchase of its first Fassi crane last year, which gave the company added confidence in the manufacturer’s products.
All three cranes are from Fassi’s latest Evolution range and include the Fassi ProLink system, which enables outer boom sections to articulate up to 15 degrees above horizontal, the Fassi XF ‘extra fast’ system, which uses an oil regeneration valve that increases jib extension speed and the Fassi ADC (Automatic Dynamic Control) load dampening system.
The ADC system works by controlling crane speed relative to the load, helping prevent the crane from flexing excessively when lifting a heavy load at speed.
The combination of fast boom speeds with the load kept under total control means that it takes less time to perform each lift.
All Fassi Evolution cranes come with radio remote control as standard, with a visual display in the control unit, allowing the operator to see at a glance the full operating parameters of the crane.
Hallett Silbermann operates a fleet of 50 trucks and 30 loader cranes
across its depots in Hatfield and Birmingham and purchased the cranes from local Fassi dealer - Transloader Services of Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
Neil Brockless, managing director of Hallett Silbermann said: “We were looking for a quality crane with a reasonably local dealer and good nationwide service. We bought our first Fassi last year, an F260, and have been very pleased with it. It has been reliable and a good experience.”

“Construction and civil engineering is the largest sector of our customer base. We are heavily involved with contractors doing foundation and ground-works on the Olympic sites, for example. We also do a lot of machinery moving.”
“These days all the cranes are getting bigger,” our base crane is now a 20 tonne-metre, but we also need larger cranes because customers are always looking to lift bigger loads further out. The F660 expands our in-house capability.”
For the past six years Hallett Silbermann has purchased all of its cranes with radio remote controls, because of the safety and productivity benefits that they bring. “We like the fact that Fassi has factory built remote control, not an add-on, says Brockless ”
The two F235AXP.24 cranes benefited from the factory-fitted Crane Preparation Kit that Volvo offers with its FE trucks. “The PTO and electronics wiring are fitted at the factory,” said Carly Barnard, sales manager of Transloader Services.
