Falling crane crushes man

A 26 year old man was crushed to death by a falling crane at a building site in Hampstead, London today, we have very little detail on the crane or what happened.

The crane is reported to have fallen into a basement excavation at a property in Denning Road, landing on a man and crushing his torso.

By the time the ambulance and a helicopter had arrived at the site, the man said to be in his thirties, was already dead.

The contractor is Harris Calnan, and architects Pennington Phillips, neither was prepared to comment, although the architects did say that the facts were not known at this time.

The death is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.

We will update when we hear more.
