Atlas moves to Terex cranes
Terex has moved its Terex Atlas articulated loader crane business into its Terex Cranes division which also includes Terex Demag, Bendini, PPM, Comedil and Terex Cranes Waverly.
Terex Atlas, acquired by Terex in late 2001, is based in Delmenhorst, North Germany and until now has been part of the group’s construction division.

Jim Robbins, general manager of operations said: “With a transition from our construction segment to our cranes segment, we are well positioned for our experts to work together to respond to customer and market needs. Terex Cranes is truly a 1-stop shop for a wide range of lifting equipment and this is a benefit to all customers.”
Vertikal Comment
The loader crane market is unrelated to the mobile crane market so there will be little synergy or overlap in this move, however loader cranes are also not related to general construction equipment so while there is probably little to gain in this move there is also nothing to loose.
There is probably a stronger Geographic and cultural rationale with both Terex Atlas and Terex cranes with its stong base in Germany. One also wonders if this move might be associated at all with Ron Defeo’s recent suggestion that Terex Construction could be sold if it could not be fixed?
