Crane drops boat

A mobile crane lifting a boat into place tipped over in Portchester, Hampshire, UK yesterday, destroying the boat. The crane operator jumped out of his cab into the mud and was unhurt. No one was in or close to the boat at the time.

The toppled crane and boat

Reports as to what happened are mixed, first indications suggested a hose had failed, but this is unlikely to have caused such a failure other reports say that a wooden jetty collapsed under the crane causing it to sing into the mud on one side and thus the tip over.
