Crane topples in Tokyo

A crawler crane equipped around 28 metres of boom and a foundation attachment, tipped over in Tokyo's Kojimachi business district this morning injuring up to six people and blocking three lanes of a major street- Route 20 in Chiyoda Ward.

The crane blocked three lanes of a busy street

A 62 year-old woman suffered a cardiac arrest after the crane’s boom came crashing into the street, another pedestrian, a woman in her 40's was struck by the boom and is reported to still be unconcious. The others, including two men in a truck that was hit and a male pedestrian, received only minor injuries. The 38 year-old crane operator suffered a back injury.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear an investigation is underway,
