Tower crane topples in Malta

A self erecting tower crane collapsed across the building it was working on while the jib struck the top of an apartment block this morning in St Julians, Malta. no one was injured in the incident.

The crane was being operated by remote controlled pouring concrete at a site in Sacred Heart Avenue when it came down onto buildings in Birkirkara Road, damaging the building and cutting electricity lines causing a power outage in the area.

The damaged apartments are occupied and several residents were at home when the accident happened.
