Crane tips in Brisbane

A building site at the University of Queensland’s Gatton campus in Brisbane was evacuated yesterday after a crane tipped onto the building.

No-one was injured in the incident but scaffolding was damaged where the boom of the large Rough Terrain crane came to rest on a new wing of the School of Veterinary Science.

A spokesman for main contractor Laing O’Rourke said people on site and in a nearby building were evacuated as a safety measure and that the actual building had not been damaged.
