Mitsubishi in talks with Gottwald

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd has entered into preliminary talks with Gottwald Port Technology, a division of Demag Cranes, regarding a possible alliance between the two companies crane businesses.

The two groups are apparently hoping to complete any agreement before the end of this year, although the form and structure of any tie-up has yet to be decided.

The news was initially broken in the Nikkan Kogyo newspaper and later confirmed by a Mitsubishi spokesman

Gottwald is one of the largest manufacturers of mobile harbour cranes, while Mitsubishi Heavy specialises in industrial cranes used in steel production.
